Gulf Coast AFL-CIO Labor 2024 Endorsements

Over the past two weeks, the members of our Committee on Political Education (COPE) screened over 200 candidates running for office in our 13 county region.

We reviewed each candidate’s questionnaire and resume, asked them detailed questions about their campaigns, and worked together to determine who we could trust to fight for our members and all working people.

During our COPE endorsement process, we try to meet with as many candidates as possible. We send invitations to every candidate who files to run in our region, regardless of party primary, and review the materials of every candidate who responds.

We need elected leaders in every office who are committed to fighting for working people. Fair wages, safe working conditions, a good education and a dignified retirement — these things shouldn’t be controversial. But far too few of our leaders are willing to push back against the extremists who fight to keep the rest of us down.

Last night, the delegates of our 95 affiliated unions met and approved the recommendations of our COPE committee for endorsements in county, state, and federal races in the Gulf Coast region.

We’re proud to announce our first round of COPE endorsements in 2024.

The Texas Gulf Coast Area Labor Federation (TGCALF), AFL-CIO unites the power of 92 unions with over 60,000 members living in 13 counties to advocate for working families in the Texas Gulf Coast. We mobilize our members and community partners to demand a fair shot at better lives for all working people — regardless of the color of our skin, which country we come from, or whom we love.
