Cagle & Ramsey: Stop playing politics and putting our communities at risk

--

“We are incredibly disappointed by Commissioner Jack Cagle and Tom Ramsey’s callous decision to block a vote on the Harris County budget by refusing to attend today’s meeting. This is no time to put politics before the needs of our community, and the first people to suffer as a result of Commissioner Cagle and Ramsey’s actions will be the workers who kept our county running over the very challenging past few years.”

“Blocking the budget will likely mean layoffs and furloughs at a time when few are able to lose income, and puts thousands of families at immediate risk. It also makes our community less safe by blocking millions in critical public safety funding. As a former reserve deputy sheriff myself, I can only imagine what officers are feeling right now, not knowing if they’ll have the resources they need to keep our communities safe.”

“We call on Commissioners Cagle and Ramsey to get back to work and pass the budget.”
